Set in the French Antilles, this romantic musical from the creators of Ragtime and Seussical combines elements of both Romeo and Juliet and The Little Mermaid. The result is an energetic story with a tropical twist, filled with infectious Calypso rhythms, rousing dance and catchy music. The Tony-nominated hit chronicles the fairy-tale love of the young peasant girl Ti Moune for a handsome young aristocrat. But far outside the earthly plane and totally unknown to her, the island's gods have chosen Ti Moune as their pawn in a divine debate over which is stronger: life or death. The gods will debate the star-crossed lovers' fate, and the islanders will gather to sing and celebrate the hope of the human spirit in 3-D Theatricals' moving production of Once on This Island at Redondo Beach Performing Arts Center.
